About The Swedish Energy Agency
For a more efficient energy use, the Agency supports the development and dissemination of knowledge targeted at households, industry, and the public sector. The Swedish Energy Agency is subordinate to the Ministry of the Environment and Energy, and regulated by the Government through the instruction and annual appropriations directives. Parliament and the Government decide on the assignments and budget of the Agency.
Possibilities within the Swedish Energy Agency
The Agency finances research for new and renewable energy technologies, smart grids, and vehicles and transport fuels of the future. The Agency supports commercialization and growth of energy related cleantech.
With the aim of attaining energy and climate objectives, the Agency participates in international collaboration and manages instruments such as the EU Emission Trading System and the Electricity Certificate System. The Agency also provides energy system analysis, energy forecasts and official energy statistics.
Below are the upcoming deadlines for The Swedish Energy Agency. Expect 1-2 months for the proposal writing process.
The Swedish Energy Agency offers support for market launch of new energy innovations that have the potential to significantly contribute to the transition of the energy system. Projects should have a credible potential to contribute to this transition. This means that they will contribute to increased supply of renewable energy or to energy efficiency, and in addition show a clear customer benefit and have good prospects for reaching a large-scale application. The call is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Maximum funding per project is SEK 1 million.
The overall goal of the program is to develop and apply processes, methods and tools that lead to the efficiency of energy-consuming steps in production in the pulp and paper industry. As overall goals are included to develop new energy-efficient and value-added products based on the renewable resource of forest raw materials.
The program supports R&D and demonstration projects at universities, colleges, institutes, consulting and private companies.
The goal of the call is to promote energy efficiency through lighting development. Projects that can be supported in this call will focus on the areas:
- Light sources and components.
- Lighting systems.
- Energy efficient and functional lighting of good quality.
- Evaluation of new technology and new applications.
The biofuel programme aims to contribute to the transition to a sustainable and renewable energy system. In a future transport sector that is fossil-free, renewable fuels are needed in gas or liquid form. In this programme, the focus is on biofuels made from raw materials such as lignin or lignocellulose from forest and agriculture or residues. Support can be granted for research and development of more energy and resource efficient and economically attractive production processes for biofuels.
The Energy Agency finances pilot and demonstration projects within the framework of the Authority's mission. Larger pilot and demonstration projects are projects that applied for around SEK 10 million in support. Applications are considered in competition on several occasions during 2017:
- 11 May
- 24 August
- 21 September
- 19 October
- 16 November
Stakeholders kan apply for grants for the preparatory work of EU applications targeting EU grants with energy relevance. The aim of the funding is to intensify the internationalisation of Swedish research and innovation, and strengthen the relations between research institutions and businesses.
The Energy & Environment programme is focused on automotive-related research, innovation and development activities in the areas of increased energy efficiency, transition to renewable fuels, reduction of local/regional environmental impacts and areas with the potential to strengthen Sweden and the Swedish automotive industry's competitiveness in a global perspective. The programme aims to contribute significantly to the reduction of emissions of fossil CO² and other emissions from road vehicles and machinery.
Applications are received continuously, but to streamline the assessment process following cut-offs have been introduced:
- March 14, 2017
- June 13, 2017
- December 12, 2017
The purpose of the call is to increase energy efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises. The study is expected to provide new information before further investment. The grant may be used to conduct a deeper analysis or study and to prepare an investment, either by funding internal work or to purchase such external consultant or equipment.
