The purpose of ForskEL – Electricity is to increase European competitiveness and create new jobs.

Possibilities with ForskEL – Electricity

Companies or knowledge institutions can apply for ForskVE grants, including universities and approved technological service institutes registered in the Danish register of companies. Non-Danish companies can apply with a Danish company as the primary applicant, if the projects aim at developing the Danish electricity grid.

Companies can apply for grants for applied research, development and demonstration of new solutions, materials and processes for green electricity. Companies can also apply for support for pilot projects (down scaled test projects) or demonstration, i.e. experimental testing under reality-like conditions. However, projects relying on intensive demonstration are primarily supported by the Danish Energy Technological Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP).

Following topics are of particular interest to the fund:

  • Energy storage and integration of energy systems
  • Smart Grid and the integration of renewable energy
  • Environmentally friendly electricity production

Requirements for ForskEL – Electricity

There are four primary requirements for a project to be eligible for support from ForskVE – Renewable Energy:

  • Height of innovation; the product/technology must be novel and lie within the topics of electricity production or systems
  • Projects should promote Danish independency of fossil fuels
