Innovation Fund Denmark supports large projects through Grand Solutions. Projects must have a focus on research and development. It can be product development, new processes or building and developing long-term research competencies.

- Technology and innovation that contributes to developing production and creating jobs in Denmark.

- SMEs: 35-75%
- Large companies: 25-65%
- Government organizations and research institutions: 90% + overhead
- GTS institutes: Up to 60%
Requirements for the projects
- 2-5 years duration
- Grant amount of DKK 5-30 million per project.
An Industrial PhD is an industrially focused research project which is conducted jointly by a private sector company, an Industrial PhD student and a university. The Industrial PhD student is employed by a company in Denmark and at the same time enrolled at a university. The programme offers the following financing opportunities:
For the company
Innovation Fund Denmark will finance up to DKK 17,000 per month of the Industrial PhD student’s salary for three years, but no more than 50 pct. of the gross salary (gross salary equals salary plus pension contributions). The company will have DKK 100,000 at disposal for the Industrial PhD candidate’s travels and courses.
For the university
Innovation Fund Denmark provides a fixed amount of DKK 360,000 to the university to cover expenses for supervision, work facilities etc.
The Innobooster programme invests in promising ideas from SMEs and start-ups. Innobooster covers 33% of project expenses and invests DKK 50,000 – 5 million in projects, that demonstrate innovative thinking and significant market potential..
Innovation Fund Denmark collaborate with other countries to support transnational consortium partnerships. For example, this could be co-operation with EUREKA countries, Nordic co-operation or co-operation with one specific country. Funding rates and amounts vary per call.

The Grand Solutions programme invests in projects that create concrete solutions to politically prioritized societal challenges, preferably with an interdisciplinary approach. This call must contribute to the green transition within four focus areas:
- Capture and storage or use of CO2
- Green fuels for transport and industry
- Climate- and environment-friendly agriculture and food production
- Circular economy with a focus on plastics and textiles
The projects will contribute to reaching Denmark's goal of a 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2030 and CO2 neutrality in 2050, as well as contribute to the goals for nature, environment and biodiversity.
